A beautiful morning feeling more like mid-summer than late Spring saw the peloton set off from the spectacular Quiberon peninsula in the Morbihan region of Brittany, winding up the undulating spit of land with early season holiday makers and those who’d turned out especially to watch the spectacle viewing on.

A race in Brittany is always a joy. La Classique Morbihan is no different, the route passing through small Breton villages, past awe inspiring ancient monuments, hopefully, and in this instance luckily with an accompanying dose of beautiful sunshine.

The peloton stayed largely intact until hitting the circuit in the small town of Pluvigner. Seven laps of the finish circuit were watched on by a sizeable crowd while the settlement revelled in the event, locals creating a festival atmosphere.

The punchy circuit took its toll, the laps here having their desired attritional effect with many riders dropped. The strongest were left to compete a fast bunch sprint on a finish with a slight incline. Abigail Miller (UAE Development Team), the youngest rider in the race at 18 years old, took a career first win at this level out sprinting the pack for victory.
